Public policy development in the messy clutter of real-world problems

With constantly shifting public priorities and political pressures placing ever greater demands on our policymakers, Public Sector Week has assembled a highly-credentialed panel to weigh up the challenges – and solutions – to policymaking that must sometimes sacrifice systematic process to urgent need.

Former Tasmanian Premier and innovative policymaker David Bartlett will outline new ways to look at public policy formation in today’s condensed policy cycle. David will be joined by a panel of shrewd policy thinkers – including Maria Katsonis, who oversees policy reforms in the Premier’s new Family Violence and Service Delivery Reform Unit, and Julian Hebden, who as Chief Data Officer at the Victorian Centre for Data Insights knows how quality data analytics can be used to inform and enhance good policy.

Whether it be time pressures, demanding stakeholders or a divisive issue, this session will provide practical advice and vital tools and frameworks to ensure you achieve the best possible policy outcomes.
