Dr Alison Vivian is an American scholar and a prolific writer and researcher in the legal arena of indigenous nation-building and self-determination. As a lawyer and senior researcher at the Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning at the University of Technology Sydney, she has practised law in the areas of native title, humanitarian law and international human rights law – which she also teaches.
Alison is a Fulbright scholar and a graduate of the Indigenous Peoples’ Law and Policy Program at the University of Arizona. Her current research into indigenous nation-building is conducted in collaboration with the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development and the Native Nations Institute for Leadership, Management and Policy.
